Practice-Integrated Bachelor’s Degree Program (PiBS)
Start your studies with hands-on experience and shape your future!
Tired of sitting in classrooms all the time? Do you want to experience what you study in real life?
Then you’ve come to the right place! Together with our partner, the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW), we offer a practice-integrated Bachelor’s degree program (PiBS). During your 4 years of study, you will receive a perfectly coordinated practical complement to your theoretical studies at Laborplaner Tonelli AG.
– Industrial Engineering
– Energy and Environmental Engineering
This is what your study program with us could look like:
YEAR 1 – PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE DEVELOPMENT
In the first year, the focus is on acquiring solid technical knowledge in laboratory planning and applying it in practice. At the beginning, you will receive comprehensive onboarding from your team and support with your first tasks. Step by step, you will learn the fundamentals of planning, organizing, and implementing laboratory projects. After your initial training, you will deepen your knowledge through an assignment with one of our partner companies. There, you will experience first-hand how laboratories are built, installed, and commissioned. You will gain insights into technical workflows, installation processes, and the fine-tuning required for the successful start-up of a laboratory.
This way, you combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience and lay the foundation for your further development in laboratory planning.
YEAR 2 – APPLICATION & DEEPENING OF SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE
The second year is where things really get exciting! You will move into the Acquisition and Administration team and gain comprehensive insights into processes before project start and after completion. You will learn how a project is successfully supported from a project assistance perspective—from the initial inquiry to final handover. And most importantly: be confident! You will have direct customer contact and be expected to present your ideas convincingly.
You will learn which organizational and administrative steps are required to ensure a smooth project implementation. At the same time, you will gain insights into a company’s internal processes and understand how different departments collaborate to achieve a common goal. While you acquire the theoretical foundations in your studies, you can apply them directly in practice with us. This way, you connect knowledge with real project experience and gradually develop into a professional with a broad understanding of planning, organization, and project management.
YEAR 3 – APPLICATION & DEEPENING OF SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE
Halfway there! After two years of intensive practical experience, you will join the Site Management team. There, you will actively support construction execution and assist with the commissioning of our projects. You will apply your previously acquired knowledge directly on-site and learn how technical details and organizational processes interact to successfully complete a project.
Afterwards, you will gain valuable experience in our Process Optimization team. The focus here is on efficiency improvement, evaluation, IT solutions, as well as technical and legal know-how. You will gain insights into the company’s strategic development and learn how processes are analyzed and improved.
At the same time, FHNW will teach you how to use state-of-the-art tools and methods, which you can apply directly in practice with us. This will help you develop into an expert who masters both operational and strategic aspects of laboratory planning.
YEAR 4 – PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION & BACHELOR THESIS
In the final year of your training, deepening your expertise takes center stage. After more than three years of practical experience, you will be very familiar with the workflows and requirements of a laboratory planner. You have learned to support projects from planning to implementation and are ready to specialize in specific technical topics. Now it’s time to apply your knowledge in a targeted way: you will work on challenging tasks, take on responsibility, and develop your own solutions. At the same time, you will prepare your Bachelor’s thesis. We will choose the topic together—it will be exciting, innovative, and guaranteed to be “Inspired by Emotions.”
Another advantage: during this time, you will have built a strong internal network within the company. Colleagues will support you in successfully completing your thesis. This allows you to finish your practice-integrated studies with a project that demonstrates your competence and creativity.
